Cavalry Soldier by George C. Marsters (US, ??-??), signed, circa mid 20th century, professionaly cleaned, framed - 31" x 39 1/4"
 
Unfortunately I could find little on the artist. I did have someone reach out to me onlline claiming to be the artist's niece who said that Marsters wasn't a professional artist by trade. Whether he was self taught or received some training is unclear; however, there's no doubt of his artistic skills. Marsters obviously executed this paiting in the manner of illustration art, much like Norman Rockwell and the Saturday Evening Post.  To the asute viewer of this work, he left a a shrouded message.
