Watercolor/ink/paper, unframed - 9 1/4" (w) x 12 3/4", signed "Sanyu", possibly from 1950s. I cannot authenticate the artist of this work but it is in the style of Sanyu.
 
Sanyu (1901-1966) was born in Sichuan, China where he learned the skill of calligraphy and discovered his love for art. In 1921, he moved to Paris and quickly assimilated into the artistic community. He married a minor Parisienne aristocrat and became a familiar figure on the social circuit.
