Strawberry Blonde by Katharine Fleming Worcester (New Jersey/Vermont, 1881-1971), oil on canvas board, signed on back, circa early 20th century, framed - 21" x 20" 

 

Katharine Fleming Worcester was known for her landscape and portrait paintings. She graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in 1903, and, according to her obituary, studied art in "New York, abroad, and, in recent years, at University of Vermont under Francis Colburn." A 1927 article about one of her exhibtions stated Worcester "began portriat study at the Universtiy of Vermont summer school ... She later studied at the Grand Central Art school ... and at the Art Students League ..."
