Louis Wolchonok was an author, etcher, painter, muralist, and graphic artist. He studied at the National Academy of Design, Cooper Union Art School, City College of New York, Julian Academy, Paris, and the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Art. He taught drafting at City College of NY starting in 1930; and design, painting and etching at the Craft Students League, YWCA, NY, NY starting in 1932. He also authored several books dealing with design and drawing. He was a member of Woodstock Art Association, and his work was exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the National Academy of Design and the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art.
